SEC Drops Ripple Lawsuit
XRP Legal Battle Ends with $125M Fine

After more than five years of legal wrangling, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially dropped its lawsuit against Ripple Labs. The case, which accused Ripple of selling unregistered securities in the form of XRP, ended with the company agreeing to pay a $125 million fine.
The resolution grants much-needed legal clarity for XRP in the U.S. — exchanges can continue listing XRP for public trading, but Ripple is still barred from selling XRP directly to institutional investors without regulatory approval.
Investors are seeing this as a watershed moment for XRP adoption. The end of the lawsuit removes a major cloud that has hung over Ripple since 2020, and analysts expect greater integration of XRP in payment systems as confidence returns.
